20 Jun 09- Battlefields Legion Riders Sponsored Poker Run to benefit the Legacy Fund. Beginning at Post 284 for Breakfast. Registration begins at 9:00 a.m.. First Bike out at 10:00 a.m, last Bike out at 11:00 a.m.. Entry fee: $15.00 per Rider (includes one poker hand & lunch), extra hand $10.00 (passenger not playing $5.00). Cash prizes for best/worst hands, 50/50 Raffle. Ending at American Legion Post 144 in Highland Springs. Lunch will be served at Post 144 from 1:30-3:00 p.m. Post 284 members volunteering to cook breakfast will go to Post 144 after cleanup is completed.
27 Jun 09- Run for Ray Blythe Poker Run. Sponsored by Doctortown Heritage Riders. Ray was injured in a motorcycle crash, come out and help a fellow fallen rider in his time of need !!! 27Jun 09- A Ride for the Athletes (Special Olympics). A escorted motorcycle ride from 2 local Hooters Restaurants to Colonial Downs Racetrack, followed by an afternoon of horse racing and a party to benefit Special Olymmpics. Entry fee $20.00 per bike includes, law enforcement escorted ride, track admission, racing program and tip[ sheet, 1 hotdog and 2 draft beers, 25 Hooters girls on hand all afternoon, music by disc jockey Raymond Bullock. Day of registration at both Hooters location from 0930-1100 hrs. 10-12 Jul 09- The American Legion State Conference, Richmond, VA The American Legion Rider meeting 1600-1800, and the American Legion Rider Reception, hosted by the Easter Region, from 1800-2200 at the Holiday Inn Kroger Center, Midlothian.
19 Jul 2009- Chistmas in July. Toy drive to provide gifts and brighten the day of hospitalized children of Servicemembers. Organized by Rolling Thunder and open to all groups. Depart clubhouse at 0900 to meet group at Post 2, ride to Bayside Harley Davidson. Group is police escorted to Portsmouth Naval Hospital Children's Wing, where Santa will make an appearance and all riders get to hand out toys. Lunch is provided by service group at the hospital. 5-9 Aug- 6th Annual Eastcoast Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. http://www.eastcoaststurgis.com/. Buy your tickets on line or at the gate. Jim Althouse (804)751-0255 is point of contact, and will drive the truck and trailer up for initial setup on Aug 5th or 6th. Riders coming up for the night on Friday or Saturday will have a place to park their bikes and pitch a tent. Rides will leave Friday and Saturday at times TBD. Jim Althouse is Ride Captain.

15-23 Aug 09- American Legion Annual Legacy Run - Post 284 riders will be leaving for Indianapolis on Saturday morning Aug. 15th. (Additional Info to follow)For the first time, the ALLR will move east from Indianapolis towards the Atlantic Coast of the United States. The Legacy Run will head east, moving from Indiana into Ohio, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, and into Kentucky, arriving Aug. 21 in Louisville (final route planning is under way). After completing a 1,200-before leading the national convention’s parade Aug. 23. Online registration opens March 15. The American Legion Legacy Run will assemble on Monday, Aug. 17, at Indiana’s Wayne Post 64, 601 S. Holt Rd, Indianapolis. Riders will depart Post 64 early on Tuesday, Aug. 18, and move east along Interstate 70 on the first leg of the journey. www.Legion.org
20 Sep 2009- McGuire VA Picnic. Riders meet at 0900 at the Legion Post home, load up trucks and grills, and head to McGuire VA Hosptial to cook and serve a BBQ lunch for those hospitalized. Wash and polish your bikes- this is a high visibility event that the Vets always love. Many volunteers are needed for our signature event of the year! Meet @ Post 284, KSU @ 0900hrs.
